Mr. Doan's message to the Monarch Community on 8/25/2023
August 1, 2023
Dear Monarch High School Community,
Let me be the first to officially welcome you to the start of the 2023 - 2024 school year! I hope you all have had a fun and relaxing summer break.
The great thing about the cycle of a school year is the sense of a new beginning. I am honored and humbled to be a part of the entire process this year as I begin my career as the Principal of Monarch High School. Having been in Colorado for almost 20 years as a teacher, coach, and administrator, I was very familiar with the reputations of BVSD and Monarch in particular. I am excited to see how my background and experience can be a part of the legacy of excellence and add to the school’s future success going forward.
A core value I share with the Monarch community is the expectation of excellence through academics, athletics, and activities. We will continue to focus on a balanced approach that provides opportunities for students to connect and experience success in everything we offer. The following are examples of the achievement of high expectations that I have followed since accepting the position at Monarch only a few months ago.
-
Academics - CDE Governor’s Distinguished Improvement Award (2022-23)
-
Athletics - Girls Basketball 6A State Runner-Up (2022-23)
-
Activities - Wind Ensemble selected to perform at CMEA Conference (2023-24)
The other easy connection is a commitment to the mission statement, “Monarch High School provides an inclusive community to help students realize their passion, potential, and responsibilities as kind, educated global citizens.” I have always believed we are here to serve the students, families, and staff who make up our community. We will do our absolute best to meet the needs of a diverse population by including everyone from our community in our process and outcomes.
Beginning this fall and throughout the school year I look forward to meeting many more people and building relationships in the Monarch community. I will be out and about in classrooms, hallways, sporting events, concerts, and many other events. I am a huge fan and entirely invested when it comes to school spirit. I want to know all the cheers and hope to teach the student body some new ones as well. So I will end this letter with the excitement I have for this new year and begin this journey by saying…
Sko Yotes!
