Academic Programs
Our students take more classes than students at any other BVSD high school. Monarch offers classes in nearly 200 subjects, from forensics, marine biology, research seminars and anthropology to American Sign Language, photography, robotics, architecture and fashion. Plus the many classes offered only at Monarch through the "High School of Business" as well as AP and CU Succeed classes.
Advanced placement
The Advanced Placement (AP) Program is a cooperative educational endeavor between secondary schools and colleges and universities. It allows high school students to undertake college-level academic learning and gives them the opportunity to demonstrate mastery of the advanced material by taking AP exams. Students can receive credit, advanced placement, or both from thousands of colleges and universities that participate in the Advanced Placement Program.
CU Succeed
Monarch High School students can take University of Colorado-Denver courses taught by Monarch faculty during the school day. Grades and credits will appear on a University of Colorado-Denver transcript. If the student chooses not to attend CU, many other universities and colleges may accept the earned credits. In general, institutions that accept CU credits will accept CU Succeed credits.
High school of business
More college-bound high school graduates will major in business than any other major? In response, Monarch High School presents a challenging, college-oriented high school curriculum for future MBA’s. It is Colorado’s pilot site for a nation-wide launch of the High School of Business™
